3D Imaging (CBCT)
Part of our dental technology arsenal includes 3D imaging or cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). This is important for carrying out the dental implant procedure. CBCT allows the dentist to make precise measurements when placing the implant. CBCT is used in oral surgery as well as orthodontics and root canal therapy procedures. During root canal therapy, it allows the dentist to make accurate measurements in cleaning out the root canal and when placing the sterile filling to close it up.
Digital Low-Dose X-Rays
For years people have had concerns about the radiation output from traditional X-ray machines. One of the latest improvements in dental technology has been in diagnostic imaging. These low dose X-ray machines emit 80% less radiation than traditional X-ray machines. With digital low-dose X-rays, the images are instantly available. Images are transmitted from the diagnostic machine to a computer monitor. The images produced by these newer machines are able to be enlarged, making them easier to see and leading to more accurate diagnoses.
Laser Dentistry
Since 1994, lasers have been used in dentistry for a number of different treatments. Laser dentistry is often painless, so patients feel no discomfort while the procedure is being performed. In many cases, anesthesia can be kept to a minimum when the treatment is performed with laser technology. Laser technology can be used to clean out decay from teeth and prepare the tooth for filling. Lasers are also used to sterilize the canal during root canal procedures. Gum disease sometimes results in gums needing to be reshaped. This can be done with lasers as well.
